Midview Earns Weekly Boys Basketball Player of the Week Honors

Following games on February 1st-7th, the boys basketball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Aden Gregory (Jr)
Midview
The Midview guard averaged 20.3 points per game over a three game span.  On Tuesday, Gregory scored 25 points to go along with his six rebounds and six assists in a victory over North Olmsted.  Thursday, the Middies defeated Avon Lake in overtime thanks to Gregory’s 19 points and eight rebounds.  The junior scored 17 more with six rebounds Friday in a loss to Olmsted Falls.

Other Notable Performances

Michael Meyer (Jr), North Olmsted
Meyer averaged 23 points in two games for the Eagles last week.  The junior forward scored 25 against Midview on Tuesday and dropped 21 points in a close battle with the Avon Eagles.  On the week he was 19 of 29 from the field and averaged six rebounds a game.

Alex Candow (Sr), Olmsted Falls
Candow scored a career-high 27 points, on 8-of-10 3-point shooting, in a 60-43 home victory vs. Midview, Friday evening, tying a 25-year-old Olmsted Falls High School record for most three-point goals in a game. The senior followed that up with 11 points (3-8 three-point shooting) in a 57-48 road win Saturday vs. Elyria.
