Following swim meets on January 25th-31st swimmers and divers of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:
Female Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Alex Downing (Fr)
Avon
Downing won four events at the 2021 SWC Swimming and Diving Championship over the weekend, helping the Eagles win the title. The freshman broke a Westlake Recreation Center Pool record in her victory in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.85.
Co-Male Swimmer/Divers of the Week
Evan Hammerschmidt (Sr)
Avon
Hammerschmidt won the 100 breaststroke Saturday at the SWC Swimming and Diving Championship. The senior also finished second in the 200 IM. He was a part of the second place 200 medley relay team and swam a leg in the fifth place 400 freestyle relay.
Evan Bolton (Sr)
Olmsted Falls
The senior finished first in the 200 IM at the SWC Swimming and Diving Championship. Bolton also claimed second place in the 100 breaststroke. He helped the Bulldogs finish runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay and third in the 400 freestyle relay.
