Following swim meets on January 18th-24th swimmers and divers of the week for the Southwestern Conference were announced this afternoon. Below are this week’s honorees:
Female Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Abby Calaway (Jr)
Berea-Midpark
Calway was a perfect four-for-four last week in Berea-Midpark’s clash with Olmsted Falls. The junior was part of the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams, won the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.51 and set a school record in the 200 freestyle with her winning time of 2:00.74.
Other Notable Performances
Paige Kay (Sr), Avon
Kay helped the Eagles go 7-0 in the SWC by swimming on both winning relay teams and finishing in second in the 500 freestyle.
Male Swimmer/Diver of the Week
Ryan Hammerschmidt (Sr)
Avon
Hammerschmidt is swimming strong at the right time of the year. The senior set three personal bests (200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 50 free split) in the water last week on his way to four event wins.
Other Notable Performances
Brady Link (Fr), Olmsted Falls
Link helped lead the Bulldogs to a win over Berea-Midpark by winning the 200 IM, swimming on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays, and finishing second in the 100 butterfly.
