Amherst Steele and Berea-Midpark Earn Weekly Boys Basketball Player of the Week Honors

Following games on January 11th-17th, the boys basketball player of the week for the Southwestern Conference was announced this afternoon. Below is this week’s honoree:

Ty Weatherspoon (Sr)
Amherst Steele
Averaging 20.3 points per game and 9.6 rebounds during last week’s games, Weatherspoon helped the Comets to a clean sweep of the week, picking up three victories over North Ridgeville, Avon and Avon Lake.

Alex Kvak (Sr)
Berea-Midpark
Helping the Titans go 3-0 on the week, the 6′ 7″ big man averaged 19.9 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game, shooting 68% from the field during the stretch.  Kvak recorded three double doubles last week (six on the year) and set the Berea-Midpark school record for total career rebounds.

Other Notable Performances

Jacob Tepper (Jr), North Olmsted
Tepper averaged 16.5 points per game in two games against Berea-Midpark and Brooklyn last week.  The junior was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line against Berea-Midpark.
