Avon’s Gerborg wins SWC Most Valuable Player honors

Avon High School junior Jack Gerborg was named the 2020 Southwestern Conference Most Valuable Boys Golfer Thursday (September 24) afternoon following the conclusion of the SWC Boys Golf season.

Gerborg entered the 2020 SWC Tournament leading Olmsted Falls sophomore Ben Scheef—his closest competitor—by seven strokes. He shot a 75 on the Legacy Course at Sweetbriar to place in a tie for fifth, while Scheef placed third with a 74 at the event. Gerborg, who finished runner-up in 2019 and eighth as a freshmen, compiled a 2.192 “score minus course rating.” Scheef, who placed third a season ago, ended the year with a 2.617.

The top six golfers earned All-SWC first team honors, while the next six receive All-SWC second team recognition. The All-SWC honorable mentions from the schools and the SWC Coach of the Year will be announced later this fall.
