Fall Week 6 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

The conference player of the week poll is back!  The Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Aya Vicens (Sr) Golf – Vicens qualified for the District Tournament last week when she posted a 94 at Sweetbriar GC to advance.

Avon – Amanda Holtzman (Sr) Golf – Holtzman shot an 88 at the sectional golf tournament, finishing 6th, to help the Eagles to their first ever Sectional Championship.

Avon Lake – Lauren Hawkinson (Jr) Golf – Hawkinson led the Shoregals by shooting a 91 at the OHSAA Sectional match to help the team qualify for Districts.

Berea-Midpark – Samantha Parker (Jr) Golf – Parker helped the Titans to its highest finish in a OHSAA Sectional Tournament with her 103 last week at Sweetbriar GC.

Midview – Lydia Szuhay (So) & Jessie Jones (Sr) Tennis – The tandem advanced all of the way to the OHSAA Sectional Quarterfinals by winning a pair of matches on Day 1. They are the first Midview pair in recent history to make it to Day 2 of the Tournament.

North Olmsted – Emma Spriggs (Jr) Cheer – Spriggs is a member of both the varsity cheer and competition cheer teams at North Olmsted.  She also competes in gymnastics for the Eagles.

North Ridgeville – Kylie Cope (So) Cross Country – Cope ran a 13:15 at the Dan Olien Invite at New London to take 3rd in the girls 3200m.

Olmsted Falls – Kayla Kippes (Sr) Golf – Kippes helped lead the Bulldogs to an OHSAA Sectional Runner Up finish by shooting an 81 at Legacy of Sweetbriar.  The first time the Bulldogs golf team qualified for districts in 15 years.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Jacob Fitzpatrick (Sr) Golf – Fitzpatrick shot a 78 last week at the OHSAA Sectional at Sweetbriar GC to finish tied for sixth and qualify for the District Tournament.

Avon – Aidan Lacko (Sr) Soccer – Lacko had one goal in a 3-1 win over Olmsted Falls and four goals in a victory over Elyria.  The senior has 15 goals and five assists on the year for the undefeated Eagles.

Avon Lake – Nate Sidloski (Sr) Football – Sidloski had seven receptions for 118 yards along with two touchdown receptions of 21 and 24 yards.

Berea-Midpark – Jon Lyons (Sr) Football – Lyons ran for 74 yards in 16 attempts and four TDs. The senior captain also caught a team-high six passes for 83 yards and the tying score that forced the game to overtime.

Lakewood – Jacob Laux (Sr) Soccer – Laux scored the game winning goal the other night in the Ranger’s victory over Westlake, 3-2

North Olmsted – Anthony Guercio (Jr) Football – Guercio accounted for five total touchdowns Friday night.  The junior threw for 248 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 107 yards and a score.

North Ridgeville – Mason Grow (Sr) Football – Grow caught the game winning 2-pt conversion in North Ridgeville’s 41-40 overtime victory over Berea-Midpark.

Olmsted Falls – Stephen Ellis (Sr) Football – Ellis helped the Bulldogs to victory over Lakewood Friday by rushing 7 times for 137 yards (19.4 avg) and scoring three touchdowns.
