Fall Week 1 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

The conference player of the week poll is back!  The Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Laken Voss (So) Volleyball – Voss finished the week with 65 Kills, 58 Assists, and 5 Aces in Matches against North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, Brunswick, and Wadsworth.

Avon – Katie Lehoty (Sr) Tennis – The Eagles senior is 10-0 on the season and picked up a big win at second singles against Westlake to help the Eagles secure the team victory.

Berea-Midpark – Brooke Bechtel (Fr) Cross Country – The freshman athlete has led the Titans in both the SWC Preview (5th place finish) and the Mentor Cardinal Classic (20th place finish), improving her time by 41 seconds on her second high school race of her career.

Lakewood – Teeghan McGann (So) Cross Country – McGann crossed the finish line in 20:00 at the Mentor Cross Country Classic to finish 15th out of 167 runners.

Midview – Rachel Thomas (Sr) Volleyball – The senior setter accumulated 32 digs and 50 assists in four matches to help Midview go 3-1.  Thomas added 22 service points while committing just 5 ball handling errors in 182 attempts at setter.

North Olmsted – Kayla Simon (So) Cross Country – Simon finished 17th overall at the SWC Preview for the Eagles Cross Country Team.  The sophomore also competes on the Eagles Swim Team and Track and Field Team.

North Ridgeville – Bella Antonio (Fr) Soccer – The freshman athlete is making an impact immediately, scoring three goals against North Olmsted, a goal and an assist against Olmsted Falls and three goals and an assist against Berkshire.

Olmsted Falls – Samantha Torres (Sr) Golf – The senior captain recorded scores of 37 at Brentwood, 43 at Sweetbriar and 42 at Springvale and has helped the Bulldogs to an 8-1 record so far this year.

Westlake – Sydney Peer (Fr) Cross Country – The freshman placed third in the SWC Preview and 22nd in the Kenston Invitational earning her second medal in as many weeks.  Peer also competes on the Demons JV Soccer team.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Ethan London (Sr) Soccer – London had 4 goals and an assist in the Comets win over Holy Name over the Weekend.

Avon – Jett Wieber (Jr) Cross Country – Wieber finished 12th at the Ashland Invitational with a time of 17:01 and helped his team to a second place finish over the weekend.

Berea-Midpark – Andrew Ruggiero (Jr) Soccer – The Titans junior assisted on all three goals in Berea-Midpark’s 3-0 victory over Kenston on Saturday.

Lakewood – Cormac Peppard-Kramer (Sr) Cross Country – Peppard-Kramer finished 2nd at the Mentor Cardinal Cross Country Classic among a deep field. The senior set a new PR of 16:16 – Cormac’s time ranks him 15th fastest on the LHS XC All Time 5K XC list and establishes him as one of the top runners in the state.

Midview – Robert Callaway (Sr) Cross Country – The senior runner posted a season best 17:40 at the Ashland Invitational on Saturday.

North Olmsted – Sean Whalen (Sr) Cross Country & Golf – A two sport athlete in the fall for the Eagles, Whalen was North Olmsted’s top finisher at the SWC Preview Meet, finishing 10th overall, while also being one of the top performers on the golf team this fall.

North Ridgeville – Greg Codner (Jr) Golf – North Ridgeville’s junior golfer finished second in the Lorain County Athletic Administrators Association Golf Tournament and is averaging a score of 40 on the season.

Olmsted Falls – Brady Loomis (Sr) Golf – Loomis has been the definition of consistent, posting a score of 40 at Ridgewood, Forest Hills and Mallard Creek last week.  The senior has helped guide the Bulldogs to a 7-0 start.

Westlake – JP Mogyordy (So) Cross Country – The sophomore Demon dropped over a minute off his previous fastest time from last year, and dropped one minute and twenty-four seconds from his time at the SWC Preview for a new personal best of 18:31. He ran in the varsity seven for the first time in his career at the Kenston Invitational, placing 104th out of 231 runners.
