Amherst Steele Wins 2019 SWC Boys Track and Field Championship

Amherst Steele’s boys track and field team won the 2019 Southwestern Conference Track & Field Championships at Amherst on Friday. The Comets claimed four individual titles en route to the title.

Amherst Steele recorded 113 team points, while Berea-Midpark finished in second place with 102 points. Olmsted Falls finished third with 83 points, Avon Lake finished fourth with 79 points and Westlake followed with 77 points in fifth place.

The Comets earned their first-place finishes from Josh Hill in the 1600m run (4:22.43) and the 3200m run (9:34.40). Caleb Stempowski took the long jump title with a distance of 21-10.75 and the Comets 4x800m relay team of Devin Baumgartner, Bradley Kirsch, Hill and Ethan Barnes finished first with a time of 8:09.50.
