Winter Week 6 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

For the 2018-19 athletic year, the Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst -Katelynn Romancak (Jr) Bowling – Romancak lead the Lady Comets to a 4th Place Finish at the North Shore Bowling Conference Tournament this past Saturday by bowling 499 series.

Avon – Abby Liber (Fr) Basketball – Liber scored 13 points over the weekend in the Eagles victory over Midview.

Avon Lake -Rayana Meyers (Jr) Bowling – Meyers bowled a 436 series with a high game of 175.  She placed 12th overall in high series and 6th overall in high game as the girls team finished in 3rd place at the North Shore Bowling Conference Finals.

Berea-Midpark – Mary Diedrich (Sr) Bowling – Diedrich’s efforts on Sunday helped the Titans to a second place finish in the North Shore Bowling Conference Championship.  She posted a high game of 183 (4th highest) and a 488 series (5th highest).

Midview – Alexis Qualls (Jr) Bowling – Qualls bowled a league-best 548 series to lead the Middies to back-to-back North Shore Bowling League Tournament championships. Posted a high game of 206 at the event. For the year, has posted a league-best 189 average during league play.

North Olmsted – Olivia Passafiume (Sr) Basketball – In the past three games, the senior is averaging 5 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals a game. For the season she is averaging 4.9 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.  She scored a team high 8 against Westlake.

Olmsted Falls – Naomi Goldman (Sr) Gymnastics – Goldman continues to be a great leader through her display of hard work and sportsmanship.  She placed 6th on the beam, floor exercise, and in the all-around at the competition hosted by Brunswick High School on February 1st.

Westlake – Charlotte Button (Sr) Bowling – Button led the Westlake Demon girls bowling team to a 1st place finish in the season-ending Greater Cleveland Interscholastic Bowling League tournament, finished tied 2nd place for individual All-Tournament team, and was selected by the coaches to receive the Joe Beck Award for the Senior bowler who best embodied “sportsmanship, dedication, leadership, and ability” all season long.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Jacob Fekete (Sr) Hockey – Fekete scored 4 Goals with 4 Assists this week in Wins over Western Reserve Academy, Midview, and Strongsville.

Avon -Jake Parker (Sr) Basketball – Paker hit 4 three pointers and had 15 points in an Eagle victory over Midview.

Avon Lake – Nick Ospelt (Jr) Hockey – Ospelt scored 1 goal, had 3 assists and had 4 points on 5 team goals scored for the game in a win against Orange.

Berea-Midpark – Jacob Rosenberger (Sr) Bowling – Rosenberger helped the Titans earn the North Shore Bowling League Tournament Championship for the third year in a row.  He bowled a 597 series (3rd highest) and a high game of 200 (10th best).

Lakewood -Tim Smith (Sr) Basketball – Smith had 15 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assistant to help his team defeat the Avon Lake Shoremen 72-57.

North Olmsted – George Trapletti (Sr) Bowling – Trapletti bowled a 299 game at the North Shore league tournament helping the Eagles finish in 2nd place.  The senior led all bowlers with a 677 series at the tournament.

North Ridgeville – Jeremy Sanchez (Sr) Basketball – Sanchez had 16 points vs Berea-Midpark and 12 points and 6 rebounds against Olmsted falls. The senior has been at the top of the leader boards, now with over 200 points on the season averaging 16.6 a game.

Olmsted Falls – Travis Green (Sr) Bowling – Green led all Bulldogs this weekend with a 3 game series of 620 including a 225 series. This was enough to earn a spot in the all-tournament team. He also won all GCIBL 1st team for his efforts all year.

Westlake – Anthony Rego (Sr) Basketball – Rego averaged 27 points (including a 34 point game Friday night) and 6 rebounds this week as the Demons went 1-1 on the week.
