Winter Week 4 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

For the 2018-19 athletic year, the Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Elizabeth Lowe (So) Swimming & Diving – In the Comet’s last SWC Dual meet, Lowe was part of the winning 200 Medley Relay, and she won both the 200 IM and 100 Freestyle.

Avon -Kat Benny (Jr) Swimming & Diving – The junior won her two individual events against Westlake, winning the 50 and 100 Freestyle.

Avon Lake -Katie Williams (Fr) Swimming & Diving – The freshman won 4 events in a 119-64 win over Olmsted Falls.  Won the 200 IM and 500 free along with being a member of the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Berea-Midpark – Lexi Schuller (Sr) Swimming & Diving – Schuller continued her strong senior season last week with three individual event wins and swam a leg on four relay teams that picked up victories for the Lady Titans.

Lakewood – Sistina Simcox (So) Swimming & Diving – Simcox won the 200 free, 50 free and anchored the winning 200 free relay and the winning 400 free relay against Amherst.

Midview – Autumn Vance (So) Basketball – Vance scored a career-high 17 points on 8-of-13 (61.5%) shooting to lead Midview to a victory over Lakewood. Added three rebounds, two assists and four steals in the win.

North Olmsted – Jordan Giraldo (Jr) Bowling  – Giraldo helped the Eagles girls bowling team finish in 2nd place at the Brush Arc Tournament on MLK day.  The junior was selected to the all-tournament team at the event.

Olmsted Falls – Krislynn Katona (Sr) Bowling –Katona shot a 482 series including a 185 game that led her team in scoring.  This year the senior leads the lady Bulldogs in average as well as being third in average in the GCIBL (Greater Cleveland Interscholastic League).

Westlake – Gina Adams (Jr) Basketball – The junior last week averaged 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals in the Demons victories over North Ridgeville and Amherst.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Jacob Kramer (Jr) Hockey – Kramer scored the Game Winner in Overtime against North Olmsted to secure Back-to-Back SWC Championships for the Comet Hockey program.  During the Tournament, he scored 7 goals with 4 assists.

Avon – Cael Saxton (Fr) Wrestling – The freshman took home first place at the Bill Dies Wrestling Tournament over the weekend.
Avon Lake – Connor Gallagher (Jr) Bowling – Gallagher bowled 9 strikes in a row. He was one frame shy of a perfect game.  He bowled a 480 series which is 94 pins over his average.

Berea-Midpark – Zach Porch (So) Wrestling – Porch had a tremendous week for the Titans, going 5-2 and placing seventh at the Maumee Bay Classic over the weekend, and wrestling up a weight class and pinning his opponent in the Titans victory over Avon.

Lakewood – Ahmed Muhammad (Sr) Wrestling –  Muhammad pinned his opponent from University School to help the Rangers wrestling team to a 40-12 victory.

North Olmsted – Joey Warzawski (Sr) Hockey –  The senior goaltender helped the Eagles reach the SWC championship game over the weekend. During the tournament, Warszawki had a shutout and over 50 saves.

Olmsted Falls – Christopher Burkhart (Sr) Bowling –  Burkhart bowled a 589 series in week 9 of the Greater Cleveland Interscholastic League on a challenge shot. His three game series was the best in the league for the week and allowed him to maintain his place in the top 5 in average.

Westlake – Matt Eppele (Sr) Bowling – Eppele has helped the Demons on a great season and having the second highest team score of 1202 in the Greater Cleveland Interscholastic League.
