Winter Week 5 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

The conference player of the week poll is back!  The Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst Steele – Makayla Velasquez (S0) Bowling – Velasquez lead the Lady Comet Bowlers to a 2-0 Week over North Olmsted and North Ridgeville. She bowled a 406 Series against the Eagles and a 390 Series against the Rangers

Avon Lake – Maggie Williams (Sr) Swimming –  Williams won the 200 with a season best 2:06.1 & 500 freestyle with a season best 5:40.1.  She also was a part of the winning 200 & 400 Freestyle relay teams in a victory over Avon to help keep the Shoregals undefeated in conference meets.

Berea-Midpark – Marissa Jones (Fr) Gymnastics – Jones placed 6th on vault, 4th on Floor and Beam, 3rd on Floor with a PR 9.25 and 2nd All Around with a PR 36.4 at the Ron Ganim Legends Meet.

Lakewood – Teeghan McGann (So) Indoor Track – McGann set a PR and the school record in indoor Track running the 400M in 1:01.78 at Spire this past weekend.

North Olmsted – Sienna Mangum (So) Bowling – Mangum bowled a 232 against Olmsted Falls this week to help secure a great team victory.

North Ridgeville – Lauren Steinbrunner (So) Swimming and Diving – Steinbrunner had two individual event wins against North Olmsted, one individual event win against Lakewood, and one against Normandy.

Olmsted Falls – Taylor Schuette (Sr) Gymnastics – Schuette placed tied for 7th on bars with an 8.85, tied for 6th on beam with a 9.15, 4th on floor with a 9.2, and tied for 6th All-around with a 35.6 total at the Brecksville-Broadview Hts. High School Legends Invitational. She helped the Bulldogs to a 1st place finish in their session.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst Steele – Joey Kramer (S0) Hockey – Kramer helped the Comets to a 4-0 week, including their 3rd Straight SWC Championship.  He scored 3 Goals, including the Game Winner with 3 seconds left against North Olmsted in the SWC Semifinals, while recording 10 Assists during the week.

Avon Lake – Tommy Kacmarcik (Sr) Hockey – Kacmarcik had 2 goals, 3 assists in a win over Westlake and 1 goal, 1 assist in a win against Olmsted Falls.  Also, scored his 100th career goal and broke the Avon Lake career assist record this past weekend. 

Berea-Midpark – Jordan Cupach (Sr) Basketball – Cupach set a new Berea-Midpark school record for three pointers in a game when he hit seven in Friday’s victory over North Olmsted.

Lakewood – Peter Patsouras (Jr) Basketball – Patsouras scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists helping the Rangers defeat North Ridgeville 61-42.

North Olmsted – Joseph Wrenn (Fr) Bowling – Wrenn bowled a 245 and 243 during last weeks match against Olmsted Falls.  His 488 two game score helped the Eagles defeat the Bulldogs.

North Ridgeville – Andrew Margolin (Fr) Swimming and Diving – Margolin had two individual event wins against North Olmsted, one individual event win against Lakewood, and one against Normandy.

Olmsted Falls – Brandon Burkhart (Jr) Wrestling – Burkhart placed 6th at the Bill Dies Tournament and is 22-5 on the season.
