Fall Week 8 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

The conference player of the week poll is back!  The Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Sydney Schaeffer (Jr) Soccer – Schaeffer scored the Lady Comets goal in their 1-0 OHSAA Sectional Win over Midview. The Lady Comets moved onto the OHSAA District Semifinals with the win.

Avon – Jamie Villwock (Jr) Volleyball – During the sectional final match against Amherst, Villwock served the last seven points of the 4th set to close out the match. During that service run she had three aces.  In addition, she had eight kills on the match and two blocks.

Berea-Midpark – Meghan Thai (Sr) Cross Country – The Titans senior finished 11th overall in the OHSAA District Meet on Saturday.  She qualified for the OHSAA Regional Meet at Boardman with her time of 20:19.31.

Midview – Audrey Sanzone (So) Cross Country – Sanzone placed sixth at the OHSAA Division I Girls Cross Country District Championship after running the 5K in a personal record 20:06.13. She becomes the program’s first female Regional Qualifier in recent history.

North Olmsted – Izzy D’Alessandro (So) Cross Country – The sophomore finished first on the team and finished 26th overall at the OHSAA District meet this past weekend.  D’Alessandro ran her fastest time ever at LCCC.

North Ridgeville – Olivia Slone (Sr) Cheer – The senior captain has been an integral part of improving the cohesion of the cheer squad. Her dedication and leadership have been noticed by all, bringing her own creative ideas to the team as well as providing a willingness to listen and implement others ideas.

Olmsted Falls – Kylee Urban (Fr) Volleyball – Urban helped lead the Bulldogs to back to back decisive wins against Avon Lake with 30 kills, 26 digs, a .320 hitting percentage, and 20 assists.

Westlake – Teagan Walsh (Sr) Cross Country – Walsh finished fourteenth in the District cross country meet qualifying her for next week’s regional championship at Boardman.  This is Walsh’s fourth straight season of qualifying to regionals and she becomes one of only five runners in the history of Girls XC at Westlake to accomplish the feat.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Matthew Kirsch (Sr) Cross Country – Kirsch finished twelfth at the OHSAA District meet to qualify for the OHSAA Regional Meet.

Avon – Elie Mokbel (Sr) Soccer – Mokbel scored the game winning goal in OT vs Olmsted Falls to secure a 1-0 victory in the Sectional Finals.

Berea-Midpark – Devin Johnson (So) Football – The sophomore wide receiver caught four passes for 38 yards and a score while also lining up at running back for five carries, 23 yards and a touchdown in the Titans victory over Lakewood.

Midview – Robert Callaway (Sr) Cross Country – Callaway placed sixth at the OHSAA Division I Boys Cross Country District Championship after running the 5K in 17:03.07. It is the second straight season he advances to the Regional Championship.

North Olmsted – Bobby Perkins (So) Cross Country – Perkins finished with one of his best times at the district meet this past weekend.  The sophomore has been a solid varsity contributor all season long.

North Ridgeville – Dom Farago (So) Football – Farago had 17 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns and also recorded seven tackles for the Rangers Friday night.

Olmsted Falls – Dylan Varga (Sr) Football – Varga helped lead the Bulldogs to a 41 – 0 win over North Olmsted with 10 tackles (2 for loss), two hurries, and 1 TD reception on offense

Westlake – KJ Mueller (So) Cross Country – Mueller finished eleventh in the District cross country meet qualifying for this week’s regional championship at Boardman.  The sophomore has been a team leader all season for the Demons.
