Fall Week 2 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

The conference player of the week poll is back!  The Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Ellie Schenk (Sr) Volleyball – Schenk lead the Lady Comets with 39 digs in matches against Avon Lake and Berea-Midpark

Avon Lake – Brooke Mangano (Jr) Tennis – Mangano went 4-0 this week, with a head to head conference win and 3 wins to secure a first place finish at the LCAAA tournament.  Her win in the finals at the LCAAA was the deciding match to help the Shoregals bring home a 1st place team finish as well.

Berea-Midpark – Makayla Watkins (Jr) Soccer – Watkins continues to be an offensive threat for the Lady Titans.  She scored another beautiful goal on Wednesday in the team’s crucial 4-1 victory over Westlake.

Midview – Audrey Sandzone (So) Cross Country – The sophomore runner ran a lifetime personal best 20:51 to place 25th overall at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival over the weekend.

North Olmsted – Rachel Kennedy (Sr) Volleyball – Kennedy helped the Eagles team earn wins over Midview and Wellington this week, recording over 50 kills in three games.

Olmsted Falls – Lindsey LaPinta (Jr) Volleyball – The junior libero recorded 66 digs and was 42 of 44 serving with nine aces in wins over Midview, Lakewood and Solon.  A captain for the Bulldogs, LaPinta was recently named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Phenom List.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Camden Gross (Sr) Soccer – Gross helped the Comets to a 2-0 week with wins over Olmsted Falls (2-1) and Willoughby South (3-0).  The senior goalie had 13 total saves in goal.

Avon Lake – Gage Deusler (Jr) Football – Deusler rushed 25 times for 171 yards and had two receptions for 25 yards and scored twice for the Shoremen to help the team to a 24-23 win over Clinton-Massie.

Berea-Midpark – For the third straight race, Coble has paced the Titans, finishing first for the Orange and Blue each week.  On Saturday the sophomore finished ninth overall with a time of 18:49.8.

Midview – Bryan Stone (Fr) Golf – Stone shot a 36 at Brentwood against Olmsted Falls, 41 at Sweetbriar against Avon Lake (without his own clubs) and an 83 at Columbia Hills for the Midview Invitational this past week. Currently ranked 10th in the SWC individual standings.

North Olmsted – Anthony Guercio (Jr) Football – The junior signal caller had 290 total yards of offense, throwing for 209 yards and two touchdowns in North Olmsted’s win over Westlake Friday night.

Olmsted Falls – Alex Gibson (Sr) Soccer – Gibson scored twice on the week, scoring against Amherst on Wednesday and then the go-ahead goal on Saturday to lead the Bulldogs over Lincoln West.
