Spring Week 4 – Vote for the Southwestern Conference Player of the Week!

For the 2018-19 athletic year, the Southwestern Conference will hold a weekly poll here at swcohio.net where students, parents and fans can vote for the SWC player of the week!  Each week, athletic directors from around the conference will nominate one male and one female student-athlete from their school based off their athletic performances and accomplishments.  Voting will open on Monday and close on Wednesdays.  Join us every week to vote for the most deserving performances!

**Some votes will be disqualified if voting is found to be done illegally**

SWC Female Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Abbey Vorhees (Jr) Softball – In 4 SWC Games last week, Vorhees hit .583 (7-12) with 2 Homeruns, a Double, and 6 RBI.

Avon – Amanda Ulery (Sr) and Molly Radcliffe (S0) Track and Field – This past weekend the team of Ulery and Radcliffe won the Avon Relays Shot Put with a combined throw of  74-7.5.

Avon Lake – Liz Thieken (Sr) Softball – Thieken went 10 – 15 with 4 runs in 3 games at the Cal Ripken Experience in Tennessee to help the Shoregals to a 2-1 record.

Berea-Midpark – Faith Kingsley (Fr) Track and Field – On Friday, the freshman recorded the longest jump at the Berea Kiwanis Titans Relays, spanning a distance of 16-07.5.  She also ran the anchor leg of the 100 Shuttle Hurdles, helping the team set a new school record with a time of 1:06.33.

Lakewood – Teeghan McGann (Fr) Track and Field – McGann placed 2nd in the 400M dash and was part of the 4x400M and 4x800M relay teams that placed 2nd and 1st to help the Rangers place 2nd as a team at the Lutheran West Invitational on Friday.

Midview – Gretchen Hack (Sr) Track and Field – Hack placed second at the Margaretta Invitational in shot put and was the highest finishing girl for the Middies. This second is the second invitational top 3 in her career. She has placed in every meet this season including a 2nd in shot and a 3rd in discus this past week against Lakewood.

North Olmsted – Alex Diamantis (Sr) Track and Field – A four year member of the Eagles track and field team, Diamantis won the 3200 M run on Wednesday against Avon.

North Ridgeville – Rachel Mease (So) Softball – In 5 games last week, Mease went 8-17, an AVG of .471 for the week. The sophomore scored 5 runs, had 5 stolen bases and 5 RBIs helping her team achieve a 4-1 record during the week.

Olmsted Falls – Claudia Schuh (Sr) Softball – Helping the Bulldogs go 2-0 at the Prebis Tournament this weekend, the senior was 7 of 10 from the plate with 7 runs scored and 3 RBI with a 1.00% slugging percentage.

Westlake – Erica Francesconi (Sr) Track and Field – Francesconi won the 1600M run (5:33) at Avon Reynolds Relays, and was also a member of the 2nd place 4 x 1600 and 4th place 4×800 relay teams.

SWC Male Player of the Week Nominees

Amherst – Caleb McGee (So) Baseball – In 3 SWC Games last week, McGee hit .727 (8-11) with a Homerun, 2 Doubles, with 6 RBI.

Avon – Luke Waryck (Sr) and Joe Svec (Jr) Track and Field – This past weekend the team of Waryck and Svec won the Avon Relays Discus with a combined throw of 280-5.

Avon Lake – Spencer Gray (Sr) Tennis – Gray has a 7-1 record in the SWC and went 2-0 in the SWC Conference Tennis tournament on Saturday to advance to the finals.

Berea-Midpark – Jacob Andrews (Sr) Baseball – Helping the Titans go 3-0 on the week, Andrews had a batting average of .700 with two RBI and two runs scored.  The senior is hitting .327 on the season.

Midview – Jacob Austin (Jr) Track and Field – Austin was part of the winning 4×100 and 4×200 teams at the Margaretta Invitational. He was also meet champion in the 110 hurdles and runner up in the long jump. Austin picked up wins in the 4×100 and 4×200 against Lakewood and second place finishes in the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles.

North Olmsted – Nolan Wagner (So) Baseball – Wagner helped the Eagles go 2-1 on the week.  He was 4 for 9 from the plate with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  He threw a complete game 7 innings pitched against Westlake where he gave up zero runs, 3 hits, a walk and struck out three.

North Ridgeville – Cade Riley (Sr) Baseball – Riley went 6-13 last week with a .462 AVG. The senior had 6 runs, 2 sb, 3 RBI and a homerun for the Rangers.

Olmsted Falls – Jack Spellacy (Sr) Baseball – In two SWC games last week, Spellacy was 5 of 7 from the plate with 5 RBI.  On the season, the senior is hitting .435 with 13 RBI and 8 SB.

Westlake – Austin Norris (So) Track and Field – Norris won the 110 Hurdles and was a member of the 2nd place 4×100, 4×200 teams and member of the 3rd place 4×400 team at Avon Reynolds Relays.
