The Avon boys cross country program won the Southwestern Conference Preview Meet Saturday morning with 62 points on the campus of Lorain County Community College.
Olmsted Falls senior Joe Backus won the individual title with a time of 17:23.6. Avon sophomore Jett Wieber finished in second place with a time of 17:33.4 and North Olmsted’s Sean Whelan placed third, crossing the finish line in 17:44.2.
Avon was paced by Wieber and Luke Gardner who was fourth with his time of 17:48.8. Amherst finished in second in team standings with 63 points with Matthew Kirsch’s sixth place finish (17:50.2) and Gabe Del Valle placing tenth crossing the line at 18:25.4. Olmsted Falls finished third with 90 points, led by Backus and Colin Cook (18:26.2).
